January, 11 | ISTANBUL | 17 WOMEN LAWYERS WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
The Istanbul Prosecutorial Office issued a detention warrant for 17 women lawyers on 11 January 2018. The omen lawyers who allegedly have affiliation with the Gulen Movement were targeted because of enrolling the exam for judgeship and prosecution.
January, 15 | MALATYA | THE MALATYA COURT SENTENCED LAWYER M.A.C TO 6 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS IN PRISON
Lawyer M.A.C who is member of Malatya Bar Association, was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison because of (allegedly) using i-message application named ByLock.
ByLock, an encrypted online messaging application, has emerged as the Turkish government’s favourite tool throughout mass arrest campaign which targeted critics of its policies. AKP officials claim that BYLOCK has exclusively been used by the members of the Gülen Movement as a secret communication tool. The government claims that anybody who might have downloaded it is in fact a “terrorist.”
January, 17 | ANTALYA| THE ANTALYA COURT SENTENCED FIVE LAWYERS TO 6 YEARS IN PRISON
Antalya 2nd High Criminal Court sentenced lawyers Osman Yengil, Sedat Alp, Adnan Taşkın to 6 years 10 months and Ömer Binali, Ersan Satılmış to 6 years 3 months with the charge of being member of the terrorist organisation. The court did not released the lawyers (except ÖB and ES) who have been under arrest since 2016 September.

January, 18 | DIYARBAKIR| Lawyer Can Tombul, member of The Lawyers for Persecuted was detained in Diyarbakir.
Lawyer Can Tombul who was taken into custody on 18 January 2018, has been still under police custody. It is reported that he will be referred to courthouse Thursday (25.01.2018)
January, 19 | ADANA| ADANA 9th HIGH PENAL COURT SENTENCED LAWYER DOGAN TO 9 YEARS IN PRISON
Lawyer Serhat Doğan who is the president of the Adana based Nizam Lawyers Association that was dissolved under Emergency rule was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
Erdogan Regime dissolved 34 lawyers association across Turkey under the state of emergency rule and almost all member lawyers of those have been prosecuting.
Thus far, nine lawyers in Adana were sentenced ranging 6 to 12 years with the charge of being member of an armed terrorist organisation.
So far 572 Turkish lawyers have been arrested and 79 lawyers were convicted since 2016 July.
