On Day of the Endangered Lawyer, the Italian Association of Criminal Lawyers – UCPI sent a letter to the Ministry of Justice of Turkey with respect to lawyers Esra Uymaz Saral, Ozge Elif Hendekci and Büşra Erdal Cinkara, all of whom are women lawyers who have been imprisoned, and urged Turkey to release them immediately.

Report update: Mass Prosecution of Lawyers in Turkey (2016-2019)
As of 18 December 2019, more than 1500 lawyers have been prosecuted and 605 lawyers arrested (remanded to pretrial detention). So far, 334 lawyers have been sentenced to 2086 years in prison on the grounds of membership of an armed terrorism organization or of spreading terrorist propaganda.

Former president of the Diyarbakir Bar Association Ahmet Özmen and the members of the board Mahsum Bati, Nuşin Uysal Ekinci, Cihan Ülsen, Sertaç Buluttekin, Muhammet Neşet Girasun, Serhat Eren, İmran Gökdere, Velat Alan, Ahmet Dağ and Nahit Eren will be tried as per Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code.
Persecution of Lawyers in Turkey | November 2019 | Seventeen lawyers have been victimized
Between 1-30 November 2019, three lawyers were sentenced, six lawyers were detained and seventeen lawyers were subjected to investigations or interdiction orders which preventing them from representing certain individuals. As of 30 November 2019, the number of the lawyers who have been convicted in Turkey since 2016 is 334.
