Turkish Ministry of Justice has green-lighted the prosecution of the presidents of Istanbul and Ankara bar associations as well as their board members.

Adv. Mehmet Durakoglu, the president of Istanbul bar association, and advocates Tuğçe Duygu Köksal, Cengiz Yaka, Cenk Konukpay, Yasemin Öztürkcan were subject to an investigation over a statement of the bar condemning Turkey’s top mufti’s comment about LGBT people. In Ankara, Adv. Erinç Sagkan, the president of Ankara bar association, and ten other lawyers who are the board members were subject to an investigation for the same reason.
